She continues to have unimaginable intimate encounters with the wildlife that captures our hearts and feeds our fears.”
Fasten your seat belts! Stay tuned for the date! The affable Rick Hansen of M.V. Dawn Marie will regale us with tales of the SS Islander which sank in 1901 coming back from the Juneau loaded with Yukon gold.
“Finding a wreck sunk returning from the Gold Rush was his first involvement in shipwrecks. His Underwater Adventures include work from as far south as Uruguay and north to Alaska. It was solely through Rick’s efforts that the last Brother Jonathan expedition was successfully funded. His efforts include working with others on underwater forensics, maritime legal issues, as well as efforts to establish database information. His more unusual projects have included looking for the elusive Sasquatch and the Loch Ness monster.
Mr. Hansen has written many articles and given many speeches about a wide variety of topics. Mr. Hansen was a founding member and served as V.P. of ShipREX and ProSEA Professional Shipwreck Explorers Assoc.
He continues to be active in the local community where he has served as Mayor of the city of Puyallup, Pres. of the Korum YMCA Board of Advisors, Main Street Association, Puyallup South Hill Rotary Club and Puyallup Eastern Pierce County Chamber of Commerce.
